Single-Board Computers
Single-board computers (SBCs) are compact, fully functional computers that integrate all necessary components—such as the processor, memory, storage, and input/output interfaces—onto a single circuit board. Unlike traditional desktop or laptop computers, which have separate components housed in cases, SBCs are designed to offer computing power in a much smaller form factor.
SBCs are commonly used in a wide range of applications, including DIY electronics projects, home automation, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, educational tools, and embedded systems. Popular examples of SBCs include the Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, and Odroid. Their affordability, flexibility, and ability to interface with a variety of sensors, displays, and other peripherals make them ideal for hobbyists, educators, and developers working on both small-scale and large-scale projects.
SBCs are used across various platforms including home media centers, game emulation, educational kits, and even industrial control systems, making them incredibly versatile in today’s tech landscape.
